The trombonist and conductor Gaspar Sanchís dies

1759

Gaspar Sanchís, trombonist and conductor from Villamarxant (Valencia), died last wednesday, January 3rd, at the young age of 43.

During his time as a trombonist he founded the Strombor Brass Quintet, an important chamber group with which he recorded several CDs, touring in Asia, America and Europe, as well as throughout the Spanish geography. He combined his interpretive work with teaching, as a trombone teacher, and with educational management as the director of the Professional Music Conservatory in Llíria (Valencia), for 12 years. He was founder and artistic director of the Ensemble Musicae Orchestra. He conducted the Valencia Orchestra, the Marseille Philharmonic Orchestra, the Valencia City Municipal Band, the Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra, the Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra Berlin, the Sinfonietta Baden and the Superior Conservatory of Valencia, among other formations.

We want to highlight the great role he played during the creation of the Spanish Trombone Association, being part of the board of directors in its first stage, becoming a key piece for the organization of the ITF 2015 (Internacional Trombone Festival) celebrated in the city of Valencia, where Gaspar conducted the closing concert with the Valencia Orchestra and the international soloists Ximo Vicedo, Alain Trudel, Michel Becquet and Jorgen Van Rigen.
